Rob Severein

After a long and prosperous career as an art director and creative director in advertising, Rob Severein felt irresistibly drawn to visual storytelling and photography around 2010. In 2011, he left his own agency and enrolled in a three-year master’s programme at the Fotoacademie Amsterdam. In 2015, his first two major series on the Exclusion Zone near Chernobyl and the ultra-right AZOV battalion in Ukraine are published in NRC Handelsblad and VICE Magazine. The work also receives an honourable mention at the SO Dutch Photography Awards that same year. In 2017/2018, Rob participates in the Noorderlicht Photography Masterclass with HE SECRETLY CARRIED HER PICTURE. A family story about his late grandfather who escaped from a German forced labour camp in WW2 and returned home on foot.
Currently, THIS AUTUMN EVE is slowly taking shape. A project about the decline of nature in our country and the accompanying loss of values such as silence, openness and darkness.
